The Advantages of Crate-Trained Dogs
Crate-trained dogs behave better when they are in the house. They get a sense of
security and duty from their crate training. Properly crate-trained dogs enjoy
their training experience. When they are startled or afraid of something, going
to the crate for security gives them an alternative to extreme anxiety and
possibly aggressive action. Crate-trained dogs know that the crate is a safe,
anxiety-free environment for them. Crate-trained dogs should feel comfort in the
crate, not a sense of confinement.
Crate-Trained Dogs and Travel
When most dogs are taken to the vet or the pet groomer they suffer severe
anxiety. Many shake with fear for hours on end. Crate-trained dogs on the other
hand get a sense of security while they are under observation or awaiting
treatment in their cages or crates. This helps the dog behave better, and in the
case of serious health problem gives the dog a better prognosis for recovery.
If you may ever have to leave your beloved dogs at a kennel, crate-training your
dogs is a matter of mercy. Most dogs in kennels are so mixed full of emotions
such as anxiety and excitement as to circle and bark or lay cowering in a corner
their entire time in a kennel cage. Crate-trained dogs, on the other hand, will
often feel very secure while inside the kennel cage or kennel crate. Their
excitement will also be tempered by the good behavior patterns they have been
taught while residing in their crates. As a result, the dog will be much easier
for the kennel employees to handle and will probably receive better treatment as
a result. |
